 :Warning: Watcom C++ is a good compiler, however it leaves much to me
 :         desired. the IDE and assembler are rough to say the least.

IMHO, Watcom is by far the best commercial compiler and in my experience,
the most popular 
compiler in production environments.  Who cares about the IDE anyway?  The
assembler gave me 
no problems at all...
