I suspect either the sound or video modes aren't autodetecting properly.
What happens when you run the test.exe in 640x480 autodetect mode? Which
driver does it choose (this is displayed in the middle of the screen).
Also, try running play.exe on a MIDI or WAV file without any command
line arguments except the name of the file, and see which sound drivers
it picks. If you could post this info, it will help me figure out the
problem...
