How about browsing the FAQ?  Here (section 4.5 "What files to download?"):

         `v2gnu/grep20b.zip'
               GNU Grep package and its docs.  You need this if you use Emacs
               (which has commands that invoke Grep) or if you want to run
               Unix shells and Makefiles.
