Have tested this also under raw DOS?
What a mouse driver do you have?
Please test the '-M' commandline switch of RHIDE and see, if that
helps you.
And mail me any result to the questions above.

Because I couldn't see exactly from your description what your
problem is, please tell me more precise what your problem is or
betther, what you expect to get work which doesn't work.
