Hi,
the first public beta test of GRX v2.2 is available from
http://www.techfak.uni-kiel.de/~hsc/GRX/gx970806.zip
************************************************************
*** This is a restricted beta test. ***
*** This archive mustn't be uploded to any other site ! ***
************************************************************
Thanks to a lot of work by
Csaba Biegl (csaba AT vuse DOT vanderbilt DOT edu)
of course and
Mauro Condarelli (mc5686 AT mclink DOT it)
Christian Domp (alma.student.uni-kl.de)
Michael Goffioul (goffioul AT emic DOT ucl DOT ac DOT be)
Andrzej Lawa [FidoNet: Andrzej Lawa 2:480/19.77]
Ulrich Leodolter (ulrich AT lab1 DOT psy DOT univie DOT ac DOT at)
Hartmut Schirmer (hsc AT techfak DOT uni-kiel DOT de)
and others (see doc/credits.doc) the GRX library is now
greatly enhanced.
Compared with the grx20.zip from DJ-dirs this release provides
- user coordinates (by Michael)
- pattern filling (by Michael)
- custom lines (by Michael)
- Linux support [svgalib && X11 (Ulrich) support and other
things Csaba mentions in credits.doc ]
- reorganized font support (Csaba)
- linkable bitmap fonts (Csaba)
- Borland vector fonts (Csaba)
- VESA 2.0 and svgalib linear frame buffer support
- VESA 2.0 8bit DAC support
- various driver speed ups
- slightly changed color interface (by Michael for better
MGUI support)
What's currently untested:
- VESA 2.0 8bit DAC support
- LFB32H frame driver
- svgalib linear frame buffer support
- X11 driver is supposed to work but couldn't test this
What's missing:
- documentation
- VESA 2.0 protected mode virtual screen support
- speed test for bitblit operations
- Complete GRX22 archive (doesn't conform to DJGPP directory
structure, no precompiled libs)
Installation:
The beta releases will come without any precompiled libraray.
Backup your old GRX20 directory and unpack this file in the
contrib/grx20 directory (unzip -L -a for Unix !).
1st: Check the makdefs.??? file for system requirements
2nd: go to src subdir and build the lib (make -f makefile.???)
3rd: build the test files in test subdir, check for correct
operation in all available modes as your time allows :)
Then check your own programs against grx970806 !
Please check this recent GRX and comment anything you think thats
missing, anything you're wondering about and of course any problem
and all those bugs I introduced in Csaba's wonderfull source code.
