I'm use now DJGPP for developing new fractal viewer and this choice
is the best.
Before this I use BP 7.0 (real mode) and DELPHI 1.0/2.0 (with some
changes for compliling DOS mode programs) but DJGPP gives to me power of
speed and much more simplified memory managment.
As you know, fractal generating needs too much time (I have some
interesting speed up code for julia-type) but DJGPP's calculations
increase speed by 30% for about 1500-2000 iterations per point.
So, you may choose another compiler but DJGPP seems to be most beautiful
for scientific programming.
