Is it being fixed? If so, what sort of timescale is there? If not, or if
the timescale is long, I'll do my own...

In fact, the version of Info on my Unix shell has this misfeature, which
indicates that it's not a bug. :(

That's not very useful, though, because the info docs are indexed with U
going to the alphavetical list. BTW, is this viewed as a good system? I
personally would much prefer the U key to go to the appropriate functional
category, provided they do not overlap (as they shouldn't).

: The forward direction is not defined well.  Do you mean forward along the 
: history ring?  If so, AFAIK, there isn't such a command (and it isn't 
: supposed to be, since history should be a stack, not a ring).  If by 
: forward you mean to do a depth-first traversal of the node tree, then
