Are you sure you have set up your DJGPP environment to use long
filenames?  If not, try typing "set LFN=Y" from the DOS prompt before
using groff.  I just read through the README for the DJGPP port of groff
(v2gnu/gro110b.zip) and it mentions nothing about groff and long
filenames...
