Ach - just discovered these functions are not part of conio.h as it is delivered by djgpp - interesting because they are in conio.h as it is delivered in ms vc++. From poking around I have surmised that I need to replace my calls to _inp with inpw and _outp with outpw in order to use the same variables and return the same values my program currently expects. This is my first foray outside of vc++, will I be finding that many of my STL functions are not compatible with the libraries in djgpp? Geoff schoenbg AT jhu DOT edu
