Well, I'm on thin ice here, but are you sure that that is exactly why the
LFN's
don't work on NT?
I believe it has indeed something to do with M$'s infinite 'wisdom', and
that
is that LFN's under NT are different from LFN's under win95. They are
supposedly incompatible.
At least, LFN's in a DOS-box under NT are  quite possible, and work fine
on my NT system.

In this of course, you are right. It was just the above point I was trying
to make.
No intentions to comment on your advise, since that is precisely what
should be done.
