This is only my personal opinion based on my experience, but I wouldn't
upgrade to 2.8.x unless you really need its features. I used 2.8.1 on Linux
for a while, but I found several annoying bugs, and eventually went back to
2.7.2.x which I have had no trouble with.

If you have a version less than 2.7.2.1, however, you should at least
upgrade to that.
