No, they used DJGPP but not Allegro. If you read the readme files that
come with the Doom source code, you'll find that iD swore off using
other peoples code after using DMX in Doom for sound.

You'll also find that if you look for DOSDOOM, there is a port of the
Linux sources to Doom back to DOS, using DJGPP+Allegro, and it now
supports higher resolutions and is quicker on fast machines than the
original Doom.
