Of course it does.  The `register' keyword is ANSI C.

It didn't "cancel" any such thing.  Near and far pointers are a DOS-ism,
and are meaningless for a 32-bit clean compiler like DJGPP.  `far' and
`near' are not a standard part of the C language.
