Subject: [Announce] NetWhack, a C++ NetHack.
Date: Thu, 06 Aug 1998 08:30:56 PDT

Hello. If you are interested in working on a C++ version of NetHack,
which is being developed primarily with DJGPP, please point your
browsers to:

http://www.pathcom.com/~simex/opr/lotm.htm

You must have a copy of RHIDE, DJGPP and ALLEGRO if you want to do easy
work for this project, otherwise you can be a 'porter' and port it to ..
say linux SVGAlib or whatever.

One of the visions behind this project is to use as many of DJGPP's C++
features as Rightly possible. It will be a showcase of the best C++
programming style and how great DJGPP is, and of course how great C++ is
and how great GNU is at doing it.

I estimate I am about 35% done the coding, but all the major structures
are in place. I have used about half of Bill Foust's code but have
changed it in many ways to support DJGPP things like "bool a:1,b:1
__attribute__ ((packed));". The objects and monsters can be stored in an
Allegro datafile so I am not counting those in the above percentage.

It's going to be great! A 100x as extendable nethack. Read and
distribute everywhere.
