Are you acutally using this?!? Blit does not take strings, it takes pointers to
bitmaps that have already been loaded in. You can load them using
load_bitmap(char*, PALETTE);
> blit(car.sprite_def, screen,0,0,100,100,64,64);
I don't know what bitmap data blit received from "a pic", but that is the best
source of your problem.
