I thought the importance of DOS was that graphics programs could run faster, plus there is more control of what the computer is doing. It is probably easier to program in Windows actually, Hexen II was programmed in Windows, because the programmer said it was easier. As processors grow this need to use DOS for faster programs will dissipate. John
