Did you try the advice in sections 6.6 and 8.1 of the DJGPP FAQ list?
If not, please try it.  If that doesn't help, post here the contents
of your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT.

If you installed DJGPP on Windows 98, please note that the right
AUTOEXEC.BAT to change is not always obvious.  You need to edit it via
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information. 
Then, in the Tools menu, pick System Configuration; there is a tab there 
that you can use to edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
