I finnally worked out how to get pipes back in dos, edit C:\config.sys

[1]
Remove device=C:\windows\command\display.sys con=(ega,,1)
and Country=044,850,C:\windows\command\country.sys

(or similar lines if yours differ slightly, should probably backup the
 file first ...)

[2]
Reboot ... bingo ... pipes come back :P

[3]
Re-add the lines you took out and reboot - wierdly .. you will
still have dos pipes :P - beats me, works though.

Hope that help the unix types who are being force to do stuff under
windows (ow for the day when linux is the games platform of choice :P,
and I wont hense have to program for W98 :P)

Evil Coder.
