From allegro.h:
#define MIN(x,y) (((x) < (y)) ? (x) : (y))
#define MAX(x,y) (((x) > (y)) ? (x) : (y))
#define MID(x,y,z) MAX((x), MIN((y), (z)))
From my understanding of that, it finds the middle number of the three passed to
it.
