I also have a SB Live, however I did not have any such problems.
Could You Please post a bit more information about what exactly
is hapenning. Ie-: Does your card work under windows?. Do any
other DOS programs like games run with the SBLive?

I would like to mention certain points like the fact that the SBLive
needs a driver to be loaded to enable SB16 support.

The SBlive needs a TSR program called SBINIT.EXE to be loaded
to enable SB16 emulation. Then the program also sets the blaster
variable automatically to the values it emulates. So setting the
blaster variable by you shouldn't be neccesary (but you can have a
look at it to see what are the values it is set to).

Following this just select SB16 driver for Allegro or any other DOS
program and it should work. Ex-: try going to the allegro setup
program and select autodetect should select the SB16 driver and
then you can run a sound test.

These programs are automatically installed in a subdirectory called
"dosdrv" in the folder in wich you installed the sblive software from
the cdrom. In my case using the default setup options it is in the
"C:\Program Files\Creative\SBLive\DOSDrv" folder. BTW Have you
installed the SBLive CD Software?. I ask this because this driver is
automatically added to the autoexec.bat file by the SB Setup and
just starting windows should be enough to load the driver.

There also is a mixer called SBESET.EXE so you might see
whether the mixer volumes are up. (They maybe set to zero and
then since nothing is heard you might think the card is not working).

Hope This Helps,
Kalum
