First, does DOS boot?  DJGPP depends completely on DOS for file system 
support and most of the system calls.

Mostly DJGPP requires DOS calls (and memory data structures); BIOS calls are 
mostly when the user needs them.
DJGPP also requires a DPMI provider; CWSDPMI also depends on DOS calls.

Any major update is equivalent to or larger than the DJGPP V2 effort, which 
took a couple of years and many
man months of programming effort.
